She was forced to step on the criminal path in an attempt to hide herself from criminals. She searched for the lonely girls and took away their identity and lifes. Miyuki Miyabe compared credit debts to a burning chariot, which is almost impossible to jump off. Thus, the writer turns to the problem of loneliness, but shows it as the consequence of getting into the credit system. Another famous Japanese writer Ekuni Kaori (b.1964) 1 , ranked as second one top author in the ranking of popular contemporary writers of Japan, depicts the lives of women in their relationships with men and children. Men appear to be compas- sionate and forgiving, though sometimes childish. When it comes to the relationship “mother-child” Ekuni Kaori does not create men characters at ll. In the novel “Twinkle, twinkle” (Kira-kira hikaru, 1991) 2 the parents of young couple forced them to get married. The husband, Mitsuki, is a homosexual doctor. His wife, Shoko, suffers from alcoholism. They do not have intimate relationships and are good friends with the husband`s lover. Mitsuki rather embodies the image of the “ideal man”: he is both attentive, gives presents; he is supportive, but loves a man. The author describes a couple of minor quarrels, their visits to parents, meetings with friends and shows the alternative reality of the “other” kind of contemporary Japanese family. Ekuni Kaori describes the stories of mother and daughter in the novel “God`s boat” (Kamisama no boto, 1999) 3 . On one hand, the author shows the life of the main character Yoko. She is a woman, obsessed with the idea of a permanent journey to her beloved one. At an early age she repeatedly runs away from home, she enjoys the music and marries music teacher. After Yoko gets pregnant from her lover, she gets back to her husband and he accepts her. The husband appears to be a forgiving person. On the contrary, Yoko`s lover escapes, but promises to find her someday. Yoko leaves Tokyo and travels from town to town all over Japan with her daughter. She believes that it will help the lover to find her. Yoko lives in a world of illusions that have nothing in common with the real world. On the other hand, the author shows the daughter — Soko, who is tired from endless journey: changing schools, leaving behind people and friends. She desper- ately wants to live in the real life. She steps out of the boat, completes a long-lasting journey with her mother and moves away from her. At the end Yoko returns to her parents and gets to know about her lover from her ex-husband. He came to their house ten years ago, but could not find her. Ekuni Kaori talks about the “mother-child” relationship and shows communica- tion with mothers by the eyes of children in the short story “Complex Minamigahara, building A” (Minima gahara danti A go ken) from the collection of stories “Cool 1 In Japanese — 俉㒄 ⊏഻ 2 In Japanese — ǢȞǢȞȇǠȠ 3 In Japanese — ⾎ ȃɤόɐ
